FOUNDATION PRINCIPALS
The heart of this level lies in the research completed by the University of Washington - Tacoma and the Tacoma Public Schools. Through collaboration with the Equity Awareness lead team in the USA. The team noted that the Tacoma Whole Child Initiative (WCI) was a program that had transformed their schools by creating safe, positive, engaging, equitable and effective learning environments to help all kids succeed. The purpose of the whole child approach was to increase academic excellence, school safety, and social and emotional learning within the Tacoma School District. When dissecting the levels of success in New Zealand the level of measurable success lied in the 4 Principles that supported the Whole Child Initiative. After establishing Tier 1 Positive Behaviour for Learning it was essential for The equity awareness project to establish:
