TRAUMA WORKSHOP
Creating equity by having awareness and understanding of the trauma students have experienced and responding to their individual needs.
This workshop is about your students wellbeing. Being 'trauma-informed' means understanding and recognising how trauma is experienced by te tamaiti, their whānau and caregivers. Many of the challenging and concerning behaviours we see in students are their attempts to cope with trauma.
This workshop aims to help you understand how trauma affects students and how we as teachers can support, protect and serve vulnerable children/tamariki and families/whānau.
At the end of this workshop you will:
Understand and recognise common forms of trauma
Have a resource to support working with children with trauma
Preventing further trauma and provide the resources needed for healing
Take part in a hands on professional development session
